| My school presentations are suited to grades K-4. |
|
For younger children, I might ask, “What is a bug, and what do bugs have to do with books?” We talk about the amazing world of insects, how writers get ideas, what’s important to stories, and how Hector survives and thrives in his bug-eat-bug world.
For older children, I might ask, “Who wants to be a writer? Who likes to read?”
I walk the students through the process of conceiving, researching, composing, revising, and publishing a book, giving them an inside glimpse of a writer’s life.
I also offer writing workshops where I help students develop a writing sample or create something original in a variety of genres. The workshops are interactive, supportive...and fun!

| Logistics |
I provide posters, lesson plan, and a book order form for your school.
The book order forms should be distributed to the kids several weeks before my visit.
You may order from:
- My family’s toy store at 1-415-332-4151 or by emailing me ($2.40 per book, delivered by me;
you may charge $4.00 and raise some funds for your library), or
- Your local bookstore ($3.99 per book plus local sales tax), or
- Simon & Schuster at 1-800-976-1726 ($2.40 plus shipping; allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received).
For assemblies and larger groups, I require an overhead projector, screen, microphone, and a small table. For small
groups, I use boards. Presentations require about 45 minutes, including questions. I will do three in one visit.
I can easily visit more than one school in your area, and I will gladly provide signatures.
Honorarium: My fees are low and I am flexible as to school situation. Please contact me to discuss.
No fee for school visits coordinated through local bookstores.

If I am visiting your school, Scholastic Book Fairs can provide all available Hector Fuller books for your fair (4 to 6 weeks notice required). For other book fairs, you may order through Simon & Schuster, your local bookstore or fair provider, or my family's toy store (contact me). |
